Morgan Makes It 2 Podiums In A Week
Sun, 05 October 2008
Following on from a well deserved podium at Estoril, Morgan continued his fine form with a 2nd place finish in the final North European Formula Renault Cup round at Spa Francorchamps on Sunday 5th October. In atrocious conditions akin to the last part of the recent Grand Prix held at this historic track, Morgan drove a superb race with no mistakes having qualified on the front row alongside Motorpark Academy’s Valtteri Bottas. The pair managed to open up a substantial gap on the rest of the field by the end of the race and they crossed the chequered flag just seconds apart. Alex said:
The race conditions were probably the worst I have raced in with the car unable to hit 6th gear down the main straight after Eau Rouge due to the standing water. It was a phenomenal experience however and I pushed as hard as I could for the win but was unable to get close enough to Bottas to make a move. I am really pleased to have picked up my second podium in the space of a week and want to thank Fortec Motorsport for the tremendous work over the last few races to get the car to the front. I am really looking forward to the season finale in the Eurocup Championship and hope to continue this good streak of results.Morgan will be taking part in the finale at Circuit de Catalunya later this month.
