First Points For Alex In Eurocup

British Eurocup racing driver Alex Morgan scored his maiden points in the championship at his home circuit of Silverstone. Testing went really well for the young brit and his confidence showed in qualifying as he took his best grid positions of 9th and 5th for the two races. Alexwent on to score his first points in race one when finishing in 7th after fending off huge pressure from Albert Costa in the Epsilon car. Alex was set to continue his points scoring in the second race as he was lying in 5th place but a rare driver error put him out of the race. Reflecting on the weekend, Alex commented:
The race weekend at Silverstone was one I was really looking forward to. It was the only race in the championship that was to be held in the UK and I had a lot of guests coming to watch me race. I was really eager to impress my fans and guests and was relishing the opportunity to start near the front end of the grid. The race started well and after making a couple of places at the start I settled into 7th place. My rear tyres started to go off really heavily at the end and for the last five laps I had to hold off Costa but made it to the end and crossed the line in 7th. I was so happy that I had managed to score four valuable points in a championship which has over 50 drivers and only 10 scoring positions. Unfortunately race 2 didn't go as well as I hoped. I made a good start and was comfortable with the car but after only a few laps in I made a mistake coming out of the maggots and beckets complex and ended up clipping a curb that sent me into the gravel. My race was over and I was so gutted I hadn’t got the result I wanted. Despite the bad result in race 2, I have learnt a valuable lesson and experiences like this will bring me on as a driver. I won't make this mistake again and fortunately I have come away with four points.
Alex will be looking to keep the points scoring up as he continues in his Eurocup campaign. Keep following his progress here!
